The first course for physicians who want to start or have already started with left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) therapy, but have less than 10 implants took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Fig. 1-3).
This course has 5 blocks:
-General information. Comparison of LAAO with direct anticoagulants. Current indications. Selection of patients.
-Materials, sheaths, wires, devices. Description and measures
-Dissection of mammalian animal hearts
-Analysis of images pre-, intra- and post-implantation (transesophageal echocardiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, intracardiac echocardiography, fluoroscopy). Implantation technique. Special cases. Follow-up.
-Hands on with the simulator.
This activity is for a small group of professionals to ensure a close relationship and unlimited access to the materials (animal hearts and simulator) of the practical side of the course.
The number of no more than 10 physicians. Course duration is 5 hours.
This course will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in January 2023.
